Hack of the day…

Here's a hack for you to achieve parallel distortion with a EBS Billy Sheehan Signature Drive pedal.

Do you have a bass with two outputs? One for low frequencies and one for highs?

DISTORTION ON TOP, CLEANS ON BOTTOM WITH EBS BILLY SHEEHAN SIGNATURE DRIVE PEDAL!

With the Billy Sheehan Signature Drive Pedals, you can connect the high frequencies to the standard Input of the pedal, and insert the Lows straight into the Clean Loop jack.

That way, the lows will pass through the pedal untouched (just tightened up by the pedal's built in compressor, if you choose to use that), while you use and shape the character of the distortion on the higher frequencies only.

This usually require a second amp, but with any of the two Billy Sheehan Signature pedals from EBS, you can do this with only one rig too!

If you have a standard bass with only one output, you can still achieve the effect by adding a crossover filter, such as the Rolls SX21, between the bass and the pedal to separate low frequencies from high (credit to Jon Willis for that suggestion).

What's your best hack using the Billy Sheehan Drive pedals and the separate loops that the pedals offer?
