The RBX4 A2 has been designed with three critical aspects - the bass must have great sound, light weight, and strength enough to withstand the high stresses created by string tension. Serious research was carried out, which resulted in the creation of the A.I.R. technology. (Alternative Internal Resonance). Despite being a solid body guitar, thanks to its unique design, the strings resonate very strongly with the body, resulting in an incredibly powerful and open sound. The original bridge and pickup system enrich the unique characteristics of the instrument with additional colors, so the guitar completely breaks the traditional notion that "a light-weight guitar has a weak sound".

The RBX4 A2 is the result of a revolutionary approach to instrument design that always begins with striving to create the lightest bass possible. However, the earliest prototypes tend to be light in weight but lack good sound and playability.

The final weight of the RBX4 A2 is approximately 3.2 kg. This is an exceptional achievement as it weighs approximately 30% less than a traditional solid-body bass, while delivering the sound and feel of the guitar that all musicians dream of. This lightweight guitar design can be considered an exceptional achievement.

A.I.R. (Alternative Internal Resonance) design

The RGXA2 and RBX4A2, created by Yamaha with the original Alternative Internal Resonance technology, combine light weight and superior sound quality. The deck consists of an inner layer of light wood sandwiched between layers of hard wood. Three metal (sound) tubes passing through the body under the bridge transmit string vibration to the body and return body vibration to the bridge. The top layer of the tree quickly responds to string vibration that is transmitted through the bridge. Special sound tubes that pass through the cabinet provide strong resonance in the material of the middle of the cabinet. The back of the cabinet resonates, bringing the entire cabinet into resonance, resulting in a tone that is deep, powerful and resonant that can truly be called unique.

Original bridge design

Yamaha's search for new bridge design solutions culminated in a compact, lightweight bridge with excellent sonic performance. The simple design with no penetration elements ensures high quality sound when playing at the highest frets. Special sound tubes passing through the body under the bridge directly transmit the vibration of the strings to the body.

Regulators with backlit LED bulbs

The guitar has one volume control and a three-position rotary pickup selector knob, which are illuminated by LED lights so you can clearly see which pickup is in use.
