Capos

Capos

Capo it is a clip that is used in the string plucked instruments for altitude changes building tool by artificial shortening of the length of the vibration of the strings in the correct location on the guitar fretboard near the frets. In most instances, players use capos to play the same chord shapes they play without a capo, but at different keys or pitches. It is comfortable for the execution of some songs. Capos can ultimately be used on many stringed instruments: guitars, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, bouzoukis, etc. When used properly, capos mimic a barre chord finger press across the guitar strings. This natural and consistent pressure is critical to ensuring you will not be sacrificing sound quality for the convenience of quick key changes. When you fit your capo correctly by placing it just before the metal fret (on the headstock side), all the open strings will play in a higher pitch – a half step higher on each fret.

Capos

Capos have three main purposes:

  • They allow you to expand your playing options
  • They allow you to adjust the key to match vocals and additional instruments
  • They help improve your playing ability

This little device has been first mentioned in the 1640s and then in the 1850s it was patented. It is still a rather new invention, but many people take it for granted or tend to not use it all, although capos can spare a guitarist a lot of trouble. Guitar capos come in many shapes, sizes, and finishes. The best capos are lightweight, and easy to use with single-handed action. They also leave your guitar tone unchanged with no excess buzz or reverb across the strings. A good capo will have no protruding edges to scratch your guitar or to interfere with your fingers when you form chords next to it. It will go on, come off, and allow you to reposition it quickly. It will press the strings down to the fretboard and not slip. Several of the nicer capos have a mechnism to adjust the width of the capo. This allows you to customize the grip of the capo to minimize the pressure on the fretboard and neck. Always place a guitar capo directly behind a fret wire, that is, as close to the guitar body as possible without actually touching the fret wire. This ensures that you don't throw the guitar out of tune as you use your capo.
