Cowbells

Cowbell or kaubell is a percussion musical instrument that belonging to the metal idiophones with an indefinite pitch (the source of the instrument's sound is the material of its body). The cowbell is a metal prism structure with an open front edge (a trimmed angle for sound output). The instrument has a sharp, well readable sound with a very short attack and fade. The use of cowbell is an essential element of dance genres, and it is also common in pop and rock music. Typically made of brass or steel. Some cowbells contain clappers—a dangling pendulum inside the instrument. Clapper cowbells are popular in classical music, while clapperless cowbells are more common in rock, pop, and Latin music.

Cowbell, fully justifies its own name, directly derived from the bell that shepherds used to hang around the neck of cows. With the advent of music, the cowbell changed and lost the reed that produced the sound, which is now extracted by hitting it with the stick. The cowbell has a fixed pitch, depending on its size and wall thickness, so to diversify the part, several cowbells of different heights are used.
