Open Pore Finish. This finish is applied in several layers that allow the open pores of the wood to be felt and to also allow the wood to breathe and vibrate at its best. You can actually feel the wood grain, like it was a raw unfinished piece of wood. The tone of an open pore finish is loud, alive and natural.
Top - Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis). Sitka Spruce comes from the Pacific northwest and today is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops. Sitka is a bit stronger and stiffer than other spruces. Its strength and toughness make it well suited for steel string guitars.
Back & Sides - Mahogany. Mahogany is softer and lighter than Rosewood. Generally, Mahogany is warmer and has more low end, providing a strong, thumping bass with an emphasis on clear, bright, airy, trebles. It's also used for bracing, binding, end blocks, heel blocks and necks
