Antelope Edge Solo
The Antelope Edge Solo is a large diaphragm condenser designed primarily for use with the manufacturer's microphone modeling technology. This technology simulates the characteristics of a variety of vintage and classic microphones.
Features of the interface
The Solo features cardioid polarity and thus simulates the characteristics of classic cardioid microphones. The device is equipped with a 1.3-inch gold-plated membrane and captures frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, making it as transparent as possible thanks to its low-resonance design.
High performance custom design
The manufacturer's microphones are unique in class due to extensive testing and a design philosophy that delivers accurate yet natural sounding results. Designed and manufactured in Europe, it boasts custom electronics designed by Antelope's award-winning engineers.
Integration
The interface comes with corresponding FPGA based emulations. However, the microphone also works with third-party interfaces, which is why Antelope has included its own plugins that work with both Mac and Windows systems, provided you have an iLok 2 or iLok 3.
FPGA and native emulation included
Edge emulations are designed to work with proprietary precision mic preamps and converters. The device can be used with any of the Antelope Audio interfaces equipped with a mic preamplifier, whose built-in FPGA processing capabilities allow for real-time playback of vintage microphones.
Additional features
However, the microphone also includes Antelope's own emulation modules, which means you can use any third-party audio interface and even change the simulation settings after recording. Available in VST, AU, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows, AFX Antelope's native plug-ins provide low latency, high oversampling, and accurate floating point calculations.
