Anne-Sophie Mutter is a German violinist, born on June 29, 1963 in Rheinfelden, Baden-Württemberg. She started playing the violin at the age of five and made her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1977. Mutter has recorded more than 50 albums, mostly with Deutsche Grammophon, and performed as a soloist with the world's leading orchestras. Mutter is known for performing, recording and commissioning new works by contemporary composers. She has received numerous awards and prizes, including four Grammy Awards.
