Arturia are proud to present a short documentary on multi-award winning composer Alexandre Desplat.

Giving a rare insight into his creative process, Desplat demonstrates how he integrates modern electronic instruments like the Arturia MatrixBrute analog synthesizer with traditional orchestral scores.

Renowned for his iconic musical visions in such films as The Imitation Game, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Zero Dark Thirty, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Arturia caught up with Desplat during the writing and recording sessions for Luc Besson’s latest sci-fi action film: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Never afraid to embrace the power of electronic music for his art, Desplat makes full use of a variety of instruments, remarking: “I really like when real and fake are mixed up. I like to mix orchestral with electronic music to make sounds that are impossible for the orchestra alone.”
