Here's a review of the Lewitt LCT 240 PRO from MyChooz

MyChooz.com is a website about sound and audio technology. Their goal is to help the user decide on the choice of headphones, speakers and other audio equipment before buying.

MyChooz prepared a review of the Lewitt LCT 240 PRO electret, cardioid microphone, talking about the main pros and cons of the model. And they made a convenient selection on the topic in the rating format. Ratings are based on ratings from reviews, all the pros and cons are taken into account, even minor ones.

Here's a review of the Lewitt LCT 240 PRO from MyChooz

Sound: 8/10

Lewitt microphones are the main instruments in my practice. The Lewitt LCT 440 PURE is the main workhorse in my studio. The Lewitt LCT 240 PRO is the most budget-friendly model among Lewitt’s entire line of microphones. I was surprised by the detail of the sound and its “airiness”. The microphone sounds great with female and male vocals. The voice is well articulated when recording speech.

The microphone capsule is electret, not a wide-membrane condenser. This is not a bad thing. Such solutions are often found in the budget price segment.

Functionality and Control: 5/10

The Lewitt LCT 240 PRO does not have the controls and additional features of the SE X1A and AKG P120:

  • Attenuator Switching – reduces microphone sensitivity.
  • Low Cut Filter – cuts low frequencies.

The absence of these features makes the Lewitt LCT 240 PRO easy to use for inexperienced users. Microphone gain can be controlled on the sound card or preamplifier. Low frequencies can be cut in post-production with EQ.

Appearance and build quality: 9/10

Appearance. I received the microphone in white color. It is also available in black. There is a company logo and the Lewitt name on the front. The Lewitt LCT 240 PRO is square and compact. I like this form factor very much, it reminds me of the C line (C214, C414) from AKG. The finish of the microphone itself is glossy, it shines pleasantly in the light.

Mounting Lewitt LCT 240 PRO at a good level. The materials used are of high quality. The microphone itself is made entirely of metal. It inspires confidence. The suspension is made of plastic. Both in the area where the microphone is attached, and in the attachment to the microphone stand itself. This is not a bad thing. Plastic is not fragile, does not crunch under the fingers, is quite dense. The microphone sits in the spider and is clamped with a metal ring. The mounting is reliable, the microphone is held securely.

Result: detailed pros and cons

s the Lewitt 240 PRO worth the money? This microphone fully justifies its $170 (Standard Pack) and $200 (Value Pack) price tags. If I were choosing a microphone for myself and had a limited budget within $200, I would have considered the above competitors and still gone with the Lewitt 240 PRO. Richly equipped, decent assembly, stylish design. The sound of the sources will be of good quality and your songs will only get better. One gets the feeling that Lewitt has invested every cent not in advertising the microphone, but in the device itself.

PROS

  • Detailed and bright sound
  • Attractive design
  • Well packaged for its price
  • Rugged construction and quality materials

CONS

  • Drop at low frequencies in the AFC
  • No control
  • No metal pop filter in the kit as with older models

TOTAL SCORE: 8 – Good Microphone! A good condenser microphone for under $200.
