Prodipe ST-USB review from MyChooz

MyChooz.com is a site about sound and audio equipment. Their goal is to help the user decide on the choice of headphones, speakers and other audio equipment before purchase.

MyChooz prepared a review of the Prodipe ST-USB USB microphone, talking about the main pros and cons of the model. And they made a convenient selection on the topic in the format of a rating. Ratings are based on reviews, all pluses and minuses are taken into account, even minor ones. We have selected the most important theses for you, and you can familiarize yourself with the full overview by clicking on the link or watching the video attached below.

Appearance and build quality: 9/10

Appearance of the microphone is not special. Made in the tradition of my favorite “squares” like AKG (C414). Of course, they only have a similar design approach. On the front panel, we see the company logo and model name, as well as an icon that means cardioid orientation. There is nothing on the back except the signature at the bottom that the design was developed in France and made in China.

The grill covering the microphone membrane is made of a double mesh, a large outer mesh and a very small inner mesh. It is an excellent solution because the products of human life will not get into the very insides of the microphone, but most importantly, onto its membrane. There is a blue indicator under the grill, it lights up constantly when the microphone is working, it cannot be turned off. It would be great if it was located behind the capsule, the light enters the eyes from this diode and caused me discomfort.

Below the microphone there is a thread for winding the holder, which comes in the kit and which is placed on any possible stand. At the bottom we will see a connector for connecting a USB cable. A huge minus is that there is no small stand in the set, most similar devices come with a stand.

In general, I am satisfied with the assembly, everything is made of high-quality materials. The microphone is completely metal, which I really like. No frills exterior, black color, gray grill – standard.

Management and functionality: 9.5/10

Prodipe ST-USB has no knobs or control buttons. You only have the option to connect it to a computer. For inexperienced users, this is a huge plus, you won't screw anything up, and the microphone in your hands will work because the manufacturer intended it.

The microphone works with ASIO drivers, which you can find on Prodipe's own portal or on the official ASIO website. On any version of ASIO, the microphone works fine.

Sound quality: 7/10

The microphone sounds good. My impression was skeptical at first, I was used to microphones of a completely different segment, but after forgetting about my priorities and diving into working with our Prodipe ST-USB, I realized that it is quite a good and, most importantly, easy-to-use device.

According to the feeling, the microphone has a middle pressure, the voice transmits clearly and intelligibly, probably Prodipe emphasized that the human speech was readable as much as possible. When I was talking to my friends on Discord, everyone could hear me perfectly.

Summary: pros and cons

The microphone is perfect for teachers, students and schoolchildren on distance learning. For aspiring artists who need to write their ideas and sketch demos at home. A good solution for gamers, I personally spent several sessions in PUBG and was satisfied. It is also suitable for recording speech or conducting a stream.

Pros

  • Good sound considering its price
  • Simple connection and operation
  • Long USB connection cable
  • Small size of the microphone

Cons

  • No stand included
  • A blue indicator that shines in the eyes
  • Quiet background microphone noise in the signal

Verdict: 8.5 – Good! A nice USB microphone for $100
